Ethics Paper Assignment: The assignment is to write a short ethics paper (3-4 pages). You will need to find and read a journal article written in the past ten years discussing a topic of ethics of your own interest. Then you will analyze the article, exploring its argument and presenting your own argument about the issue under discussion based on your analysis of the article. The purpose of this assignment is to develop your moral reasoning skills, your writing skills, and to help you understand the role philosophical inquiry may play in your life after college.
Your first task is to find a journal article. You should begin by deciding what aspect of ethics most interests you. This may be a theoretical or a practical aspect. You may search online or use the library. If you need help locating the article, ask a reference librarian to help you.
Your second task is to read and understand the article you have selected. Make sure that you take down some notes on the bibliographic information.
The first part of your paper should summarize the argument made in the article you selected. After summarizing the article, the rest of your paper should consist of your analysis of the article and topic. INSTRUCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. Find article within last 10 years of your own ethical (theoretical/practical) interest.
2. Analyze Article/present the argument along with your own on the topic.
3. Take notes on the bibliographic information
4. 1st part of should summarize the argument made.
5. the rest should consist of your analysis of the article. 6. The paper should be 3-4 pages, typed, double-spaced using a 12-point font.
7. DO NOT simply summarize the argument of someone else. 8.Determine your own perspective and opinion.
9. You must cite the sources in your paper. You may use either parenthetical documentation and include a “works cited” page. You should not need more than 3 or 4 citations. 10. MLA format
